Please note we are seeing patients during this time of COVID-19 pandemic. However, we are offering visits remotely for safety of patients as well as staff and may consider in person if circumstances necessitate it and require prior approval to verify necessity.  New patient evaluations are performed remotely due to extended duration of time required and fully able to evaluate via interactive video.  Follow up cares are also most of the time able to be completed remotely, outside of the office, to meet needs.

Dedicated to caring for Ehlers Danlos Syndrome, Mast Cell Activation Syndrome, and Postural Orthostatic Tachycardia Syndrome

We care for and about the most complex patient needs and conditions.

We perform new patient consultations and evaluations for EDS, MCAS, POTS, and associated conditions.

We also provide comprehensive, long term cares for these conditions.

We provide cares remotely via telemedicine (over the phone, email / patient portal, video chat) and also able to do cares in person when needed.

We likewise complete all necessary forms or letters to help in the coordination of cares for our patients as relate to the cares provided.

If you have any questions, please feel free to ask.

Frequently Asked Questions
  • Do you take insurance?

    • We are out of network for insurance carriers.  However, patients may get prior authorization(s) from insurance for cares that are unable to be received within their network(s) or reimbursed afterward at the rate the insurance carrier reimburses for out of network cares (often vary from 1 plan to the next and may vary from 1 year to the next within the same plan).

    • However, due to some patients needing home cares through Medicare that requires by law all medical cares to be billed directly through Medicare and understand the essential nature for those patients to be able to receive their needed cares, we do participate in Medicare where when needing any cares through Medicare then the Social Security Act requires all medical services to be billed to Medicare directly.

  • How much does it cost?

    • It varies depending on if a new evaluation or follow up.

      • New patients are a flat rate fee regardless of how long it takes or any other factors.

    • Also, for established patients, it varies depending on the amount of time and only based on amount of time needed to complete all the cares, which includes documentation, forms, etc.
  • What types of payment do you accept?

    • Cash, Check, Credit Card (all types, such as Visa, Mastercard, Discover, American Express, etc), Visa Gift Cards, HSA card, FSA card, and PayPal.  There are no refunds for services already completed (though, as stated above, may get reimbursed from your insurance through their out of network rates).

    • Privacy policy -- payments, just as medical / health information, all information is strictly confidential.

About Complex Cares LLC

Dr. Shanda R. Dorff, MD, FAAFP began working with connective tissue diseases professionally in 2008 where found herself unable and unwilling to stop learning, and, the more she learned, the more she wanted to know and developed a passion for the subject matter.  She noticed great overlap and incidence of other conditions rarely seen in ones who do not have these conditions.  She further began working to ensure patients have access to cares when discovered resources were limited.  She saw the amazingly beautiful transformations when patients were able to get the needed cares.  She also enjoys teaching others about the conditions along with ensuring patients understand their health for best outcomes.  However, she also noticed for some patients things would seem frustrating when costs may vary from 1 clinic to the next depending on tier coverage, varying costs for insurance plans, and changes from 1 year to the next that could impact care or ability to continue working with the same providers.  Thus, in order to be most fair for everyone, she established the exact same rates and billing for all patients, regardless of any factor.

She is also proud to be a wife and mother along with physician.  She considers herself very fortunate to have been raised by an amazing, independent, intelligent, and strong woman who taught her to never settle for anything less than the best as well as not giving up on anything she believes in, which is why she felt drawn to open this clinic. She further enjoys working with wonderful patients and staff.
